Okato

Features

A transcript for everything you watch and hear

Okato is a live transcription and translation studio that lives on your Mac, and never leaves it.

Live transcription

Capture audio from any app on your Mac, Safari, Chrome, a video call, a film, and read it as a live transcript with timestamps and a timeline that follows the newest line.

30 languages

From English to Cantonese to Swahili, Okato understands the world's languages, including the long tail other apps quietly skip.

Real-time translation

Every line is translated as it lands, into the language you want to read. Live mode runs a fast pass with no extra passes, the translation arrives with the line, not after it.

Speaker diarization

Voices are separated and labelled, so a meeting reads like a script. Who said what, when, in order.

Subtitles over anything

Full-screen subtitles that float over the video, click-through, so they never take the cursor from whatever you're doing. Position, size and opacity are yours to set.

Notepad panel

A small floating panel with scrollback, for when you want to look back at what was said without leaving the screen you're watching.

File & theatre mode

Drop in a video or audio file. Okato runs the fullest accuracy pass, every word, every speaker, synchronised with the audio and video. Then watch the film full screen while the transcript and translation roll underneath, and export Markdown, plain text, PDF, or timed subtitles, or burn the subtitles of your choice into a brand-new video file.

Fully offline

Everything ships inside the app. No network calls, no accounts, no uploads, no subscription, just the machine in front of you.
